Regular Meeting March 2022 with First Initiation & Travelling Trowel
At our second regular meeting of the year, we welcomed our new initiate and received the Travelling Trowel from Gerard Lodge no 8999.
Our newest initiate of 2022 was initiated into Freemasonry according to ancient customs by the Worshipful Master, assisted by his officers and brethren of the lodge. While in our February meeting we celebrated the past and welcomed a visiting member to his mother lodge, our March meeting was about the new with an initiation ceremony.
It is also the meeting where the lodge received the Somerset Travelling Trowel. The Travelling Trowel was presented to the Worshipful Master by the Worshipful Master of Gerard Lodge no 8999 and Past Provincial Grand Master for the Province of Somerset, RW Bro Stuart Hadler. He was accompanied by brethren from his Lodge.
Gerard Lodge No 8999 meets in Keynsham at 14:30 on the second Saturday in February, April, June (Installation), September and December if any of our brethren are interested in visiting.
The members of our lodge will be returning the Somerset Travelling Trowel to the Province, at the Provincial Grand Lodge of Somerset Annual Meeting on the 7th April 2022. This will be a full day event with lunch which many of our members already signed up to go.
After our meeting, we continued upstairs at the Festive Board where our distinguished brethren, visitors and initiate are welcomed properly to the lodge. Here, we showed the initiate (and visitors) how the masonic fire is done in the lodge, formed the initiate’s chain and sang the Apprentice’s song. The latter was dedicated to none other than our newly accepted mason. The explanation of the masonic chain was delivered by W. Bro Tan.
Everyone who was in attendance enjoyed the evening. The visitors toast was delivered by Bro Aziz and a response to the visitor’s toast was given by RW Bro Hadler.
