Lodge of Honour Curry Club – January 2026
The Lodge of Honour Curry Club returned in fine style for its first gathering of 2026 with a long-awaited and much-anticipated evening at Yak Yeti Yak, right in the heart of Bath. After taking a brief pause over Christmas and the New Year, it was a pleasure to reconvene, share good food, and enjoy one another’s company once again.
A Welcome Return to Yak Yeti Yak
This was not our first visit to Yak Yeti Yak, having previously enjoyed an excellent Curry Club evening here in March 2025 and again in July 2025. Returning in January felt like a natural choice to start the new year: familiar, welcoming, and with plenty still left to explore on the menu. Judging by the dishes ordered and the smiles around the table, it certainly will not be our last visit.

A Strong Turnout to Start the Year
Nine of us attended this first Curry Club of 2026, making it a lively and well-balanced gathering. The group included two new joiners: a newly admitted Entered Apprentice and a visiting member from another lodge. We were also joined by the Immediate Past Master, Treasurer, Inner Guard, Membership Officer, and a potential candidate, making the evening a wonderful mix of experience, enthusiasm, and fresh faces.
As always, the atmosphere was relaxed and convivial, with plenty of conversation, laughter, shared recommendations, and the kind of easy fellowship that Curry Club does so well. With drinks flowing and plates arriving steadily, the evening unfolded at just the right pace.
Starters: A Nepalese Showcase
The starters gave us an excellent introduction to the depth and variety of Nepalese cuisine on offer:
-
Momos
Delicately spiced, stuffed, and steamed dumplings, a Nepalese favourite, served with fresh tomato chutney. Chosen in both chicken and vegetable versions. -
Malekhu Macha
Scottish salmon pieces marinated with ginger and mild spices, deep-fried until crispy and served with fresh house pickles and mint chutney. -
Chicken Shekuwa
Prime strips of chicken breast marinated in an aromatic blend of spices, served with fresh house pickles and tomato chutney.
Each dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour, setting a high bar for what was to follow.
Mains: Set Dishes Done Properly
For mains, everyone opted for the Set Mains, which proved to be a popular and satisfying choice. All set mains were served with steamed basmati rice, orange dal, kalo channa, pickles, and a selection of sweet and fresh chutneys.
Among the dishes enjoyed were:
-
Yak Yeti Yak Chicken
Chicken slices marinated with garlic, fenugreek, and mild aromatic spices, stir-fried with fresh tomatoes and spring onions. -
Yak Yeti Yak Lamb
Tender pieces of lamb marinated with garlic, turmeric, and mild aromatic spices, stir-fried with fresh tomatoes and spring onions. -
Chicken Bhutuwa
Chicken breast curried with ginger, garlic, and fresh tomato, flavoured with freshly ground mild peppery spices. -
Yak Yeti Yak Beef
Slices of steak marinated with garlic and mild peppery spices, stir-fried with peppers, onion, tomato, and spring onion.
The consensus around the table was unanimous: generous portions, bold flavours, and dishes cooked with real care.
What the Brethren Had to Say
The feedback spoke for itself:
“A great night, thanks everyone.”
“The Yak Yeti Yak lamb was hot and punchy.”
“Food was splendid last night.”
“Yak Yeti Yak always has amazing food. Nepalese cuisine is criminally underrated.”
“Easily top three places to eat in Bath.”
