Curry Club June 2025 – Bengal Brasserie
Our June Curry Club gathering took place on the last Friday of the month, 27 June 2025, with a return to a long-time favourite — Bengal Brasserie in the heart of Bath. Nestled just around the corner from the Theatre Royal, the restaurant was the perfect setting for an evening of great food and fellowship.

Pre- & Post-Curry Drinks: The Garrick’s Head
As is Curry Club tradition, the evening began and ended with drinks at The Garrick’s Head, the historic pub right next door. It’s become something of a ritual: sharing stories over a pint before moving on to share spice-laden plates over the dinner table.
Although numbers were lighter than usual, the summer holidays had taken several members abroad we were still joined by friendly faces from other lodges and new members, continuing the tradition of openness and camaraderie that defines our monthly meets.
Our Table Feast Included:
- Poppadoms & Chutneys – Crispy, golden and a welcome opener with tangy mango chutney and spiced onion salad.
- Balti Lamb – Tender lamb in a thick, rich Balti sauce, packed with bold spices and a hint of sweetness.
- Lamb Tikka Masala – A creamy, mildly spiced classic with chargrilled pieces of lamb tikka in a velvety tomato-based sauce.
- Nayrel Salon – A standout dish: meat simmered with coconut and green chillies, full of warmth and tropical depth.
- Madras – Hot, hearty, and full of punch — for those who like it fiery.
- Tandoori Murg – Two succulent pieces of bone-in tandoori chicken, perfectly spiced and served with a crisp side salad.
- Bombay Aloo – Spiced potatoes done right — soft, golden, and satisfyingly moreish.
On the Side:
- Pilau Rice – Fragrant, fluffy, and the perfect base.
- Garlic Naan – Soft and buttery with just the right hit of garlic.
- Keema Naan – Stuffed with spiced minced meat and ideal for scooping up every last bite.
Despite a smaller turnout, the evening was full of good humour, excellent conversation, and even better curry. It served as a reminder that it’s not the numbers that make the night it’s the spirit at the table. Here are more photos at the Garrick’s Head.
