Switch on the glass washer (under the dining room bar) at the wall socket (in cupboard to right of glass washer). Refer to the “Asber Glasswasher Easy-400” manual (note the amber light does not work, but the green light does).
If the glass washer has been drained, the “overflow” guard may not be in the machine. It will be in the sink behind the dining room bar.
In such case, put the overflow guard in the machine.
Turn the l.h. dial on the front of the glass washer to “120o” but do not use the washer until the green light is illuminated (ie. reached temperature).
Check that there are enough glasses in both bars, and that the shelves are stocked.
Put some ice in the ice bucket (ice bags in the freezer).
If there is no ice, go to one of the nearby supermarkets to buy some ice (send the receipt and your bank details to accounts@oldtheatreroyal.com for the expense to be refunded.
Fill at least one jug with water and put in some ice and put it on the bar with some glasses.

Switch on fridge lights.
Ante-room fridge – switch to top right of r.h. fridge inside the door
Dining room fridge – switch to the middle of the fridge behind flap at floor level
The card reader (ie. and viz. “the till”) software is intuitive, icons and pictures.
Ensure the product being rung into the till is the product being served (ie. distinguish between slimline tonic and ordinary tonic, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beers and ciders). The till software monitors the stock levels.
During sales and in quiet moments ; collect glasses in the grey glass trays and wash as you go along continually replenish stock on shelves and fridges (put new stock at back of fridges)
Most stock is in the cupboard just inside the front door, or under the bar in the ante-room.
The key to that cupboard is on a hook under the ante-room bar counter, to the right, at the back, above the drip tray. Keep the stock cupboard locked.
When the event or meeting moves to the dining room, take till, ice and empties up to the dining room.
Put each glass tray in the glass washer and press and hold the “cycle” button for 5 seconds.
The clean cycle is about 5 to 10 minutes long.
Repeat for all trays of used glasses.
Find a clean tea-towel, and give each glass a quick wipe.
Put glasses out on shelves, ensuring the ante-room and dining room shelves are stocked.
Replenish the bar stock in the fridges and on the shelves.
Put the till on the charger unit behind the bar in the ante-room.
Wipe around both bar’s surfaces with some detergent spray.
Put dirty tea-towels in a bag, ready to be washed.
If you are due back in the hall within a couple of days, take the dirty tea-towels and bar towels home and wash them, and bring them back to the hall as soon as possible.
Switch off fridge lights.
If the hall is not being used for a few days, drain the glass washer (refer to washer manual). Open the washer Remove the overflow guard Turn the left hand dial to drain
Press the cycle button for 5 seconds The washer will drain itself Put the overflow guard back in the machine Leave the door open
There are three bins under the bar in the ante-room : glass, cans and general. There are only two bins behind the dining room bar : glass and general. Try to keep waste separate as you go along. Cardboard boxes are flattened and the flattened boxes are put into an un-flattened box.
There is a 275 litre green wheeled bin for glass, in the drinks cupboard. The bar glass bins should be decanted into that at the end of the evening. This green bin is emptied every other Friday at 8am. See the Bath and North East Somerset waste “portal” for the next Friday collection day. The glass bin can be put outside the front door late on the Thursday before. The bin should be brought back into the building before 10am on collection day.
If the bin is too full to take anymore glass, then bottles should be stored in boxes and saved for the next council collection.
General waste is collected at 5pm every Monday to Friday. All general waste needs to be bagged in prescribed purple waste bags and be able to be tied up. These purple bags are put into the blue “gull-proof” bag, and left outside the front door at 5pm. It should be brought in as soon as it has been emptied, or at least before 10pm.
General waste includes the contents of the bins behind the two bars, the small waste bins in the foyer, ante-room, museum stairs vestibule, and all the lavatories. Crush it down to fit as much as possible into one purple sack.
Cans, cardboard and plastic should be bagged up in the prescribed clear plastic bags. The bags must be able to be tied up. They must be bagged separately. Collection for these is every other Thursday morning at 8am. See the Bath and North East Somerset waste “portal” for the next Thursday collection day. The clear bags should be put outside the front door late on the Wednesday before collection day.
Putting waste on the street outside of these times will incur a fine of £100 from Bath and North East Somerset.
