Lodge of Honour Curry Club – Sep 2025 at Panahar
September brought us back to a familiar favourite — Panahar on Moorland Road — a cosy neighbourhood curry house known for its warm hospitality, generous portions and exceptional value. It wasn’t our first visit, and by the end of the evening, everyone agreed it certainly won’t be our last.
Pre-Dinner Drinks at Velo Lounge
As usual, the evening began with pre-dinner drinks at Velo Lounge, starting from 6pm. It provided the perfect relaxed setting for early conversation, light humour and the arrival of brethren in twos and threes. By the time we walked down to Panahar for our 7:15 reservation, spirits were high and appetites well-prepared.
A Strong Turnout – Members, Officers & Future Brethren
This month’s meet drew a lively and varied crowd:
- Three potential joiners,
- Several regular Curry Club regular brethren,
- Potential candidates,
- The Worshipful Master,
- The Tyler,
- Our Treasurer,
- And the Secretary (me).
It was a vibrant mix of established members and newcomers, always a welcome sign for the lodge.
Panahar: A Local Favourite With Big Flavour
Panahar is well-known not only for its warm service but also for two features that made the evening even more enjoyable:
- They don’t charge corkage
- They don’t serve alcohol, so guests are welcome to bring their own
Conveniently, Sainsbury’s on Moorland Road is just a short walk away, making it easy for brethren to pick up cold beers at reasonable prices before the meal. Combined with Panahar’s already affordable menu, especially compared to Bath city centre, the evening delivered excellent value without compromising on quality.

What We Ate — Curry Highlights
With a table full of hungry diners, a wide range of dishes made their way out of the kitchen, including some consistent favourites and a new discovery for many. Here is a sample of our dishes:
- Chicken Vindaloo – fiery, bold, and packed with spice for those who enjoy serious heat.
- Mushroom Rice – aromatic and savoury, the perfect accompaniment to richer dishes.
- Keema Naan – warmly spiced minced lamb folded into soft, fluffy bread.
- Benarasi Curry – ordered for the first time by members at our table, and quickly becoming a highlight.
A bit more on the Benarasi – its flavour profile stood out with its aromatic depth and subtle sweetness — a dish many said they would happily order again.
The plates were generous, the spices well balanced, and the service attentive throughout.

A Night of Food, Fellowship & Future Growth
As always, the best part of the Curry Club is not just the food, but the fellowship. The mix of officers, longstanding members and enthusiastic newcomers made for lively conversation, from lodge news to Masonic stories, personal anecdotes and plenty of laughter.
Seeing three potential joiners engage warmly with the brethren was particularly encouraging. Nights like these help strengthen bonds both within the lodge and with those who may soon be part of it.

Our September visit to Panahar reminded us of why we return: excellent food, unbeatable value and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that suits the Curry Club perfectly. With strong attendance and promising interest from future members, the Lodge of Honour Curry Club continues to thrive.
We look forward to our next outing — good food, good company and the continued growth of our Masonic family.
