Lodge of Honour Curry Club – July 2025 Meet at Yak Yeti Yak (again)
After our first visit back in March left such a strong impression, it was only a matter of time before the Lodge of Honour Curry Club returned to Yak Yeti Yak. Hidden away in the basement level of a Georgian townhouse on Pierrepont Street, Bath, this Nepali restaurant is easy to miss unless you look out for the signs — but once you step inside, you’re rewarded with a warm welcome and authentic flavours that keep you coming back.
Date: Friday 25 July 2025
Venue: Yak Yeti Yak, Bath
For our July meet, we once again gathered at this hidden gem, drawn by memories of its vibrant dishes and cosy, informal atmosphere.
Ordering the Yak Yeti Yak Way
When dining here, there are two approaches: you can go for the Set Mains for One, which includes steamed basmati rice, orange dal and fresh chutney alongside your chosen protein, or you can mix and match from the individual dish section to create your own combination of flavours.
This time, our table featured a bit of both, starting with the Set Mains for One:
- Yak Yeti Yak Chicken – Slices of chicken marinated with garlic, fenugreek and mild aromatic spices, stir-fried with fresh tomatoes and spring onion.
- Yak Yeti Yak Lamb – Tender pieces of lamb marinated with garlic, turmeric and gentle spices, stir-fried with fresh tomatoes and spring onion.
- Yak Yeti Yak Beef – Strips of steak marinated with garlic and mild peppery spices, stir-fried with peppers, onion, tomato and spring onion.
From the Mix & Match menu, we explored some deeper, more rustic flavours:
- Lamb Tamar – Slow-braised lamb with fermented bamboo shoots, black-eyed peas, new potatoes and tomatoes, flavoured with earthy cumin.
- Lamb Chilly (x2) – A special for the table: lamb stir-fried with fresh green chillies, ginger, garlic and soya sauce. A fiery favourite for those who like heat.
To go with the mix and match items, we ordered Bhuteko Bhat, Nepalis fried rice prepared with freshly diced carrot, green beans, turmeric and mustard seeds. As this was for three, it came in a huge brass serving pot.
Everyone enjoyed their share of flavours of Nepali cuisine. These distinct flavours, warming spices, fresh herbs, and a balance of savoury and citrus notes differs from our usual Indian or Thai curries, we had.
A Return Worth Making
The return visit confirmed what we discovered in March: Yak Yeti Yak is something special. The quality of the cooking, the depth of the flavours, and the relaxed setting make it an ideal spot for a Curry Club night.
Once again, conversation flowed as freely as the food, and the evening reminded us why these monthly meets are such a highlight of the Lodge calendar.
Looking Ahead
With the summer season in full swing, our next Curry Club promises to keep the momentum going. Details of the August meet will be announced soon — but for now, July has firmly secured Yak Yeti Yak’s place as a Curry Club favourite.
